MAGLOVA AQUEDUCT
The Maglova Aqueduct was built by Mimar Sinan between the years 1554 and 1562, over the Alibey Stream in İstanbul. Although it was damaged by a flood in 1563, it was restored the same year. With its triangular feet and its large and small arches, it is regarded as one of the masterpieces of aqua-architecture in the world. The aqueduct is two-tiered, 36 meters long and 257 meters high, with a passageway in the center. The Maglova Aqueduct is the most important component of the Kırkçeşme Water Supply System, which consists of 33 aqueducts, including Maglova, as well as dams, pools, fountains, and a 55-kilometer-long distribution line. The Maglova Aqueduct continues to supply İstanbul with water to this day.
